Understanding Hate Crimes
Hate crimes are serious offenses committed against individuals or groups because of their race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, or other protected characteristics. These crimes not only harm the victims but also send a message of intolerance and fear to entire communities.
What is a Hate Crime?
A hate crime is any criminal act, such as violence, vandalism, or threats, that is motivated by prejudice against a person’s identity. These crimes are not just offenses against the victim but also against the values of equality and justice that our society stands for.
