Ayman Nassar
Commissioner Nassar is a lifelong social entrepreneur and technologist. Over the past 30 years he has coached, taught and counseled thousands of youth and young professionals in various areas of leadership development. Mr. Nassar has been a certified mentor and coach with Big Brother Big Sister, Lutheran Social Services (LSS), Dar Al-Taqwa, Prince George’s Community College Asian, Latino, African, Native American (ALANA), New Beginnings Youth Center, Howard County Detention Center and Virginia State Prisons. He has volunteered thousands of hours working with youth at detention centers, schools and community centers.
In 2009 Mr. Nassar founded Islamic Leadership Institute of America, a 501c(3) educational youth development organization that has served over 6000+ young individuals in eleven states, offering career empowerment, advocacy, project management, nonprofit management, leadership and coaching. He has been trained in cultural competence, youth development, reentry, psychology, curriculum development and has devised over 240 courses and programs for youth and adults. He was faculty at University of California, Prince George’s Community College, Strayer University and Howard Community College. He is author of 4 books, and dozens of articles and academic papers, a world renowned speaker at various organizational development conferences and events
As an Electronics and Communications & Systems Engineer Mr. Nassar has held senior technology management roles at IBM, Northrop Grumman, Ericsson, and has provided consulting services to some of the world's most advanced technology organizations such as Corning Glass, HP, AT&T, AT&T, Telia, SBC, Bell South, Saudi Telecom, KTF, China Netcom, France Telecom, T-Systems, Telecom Italia, Hughes Network Systems and Acer Computers. Mr. Nassar has four patents in the field of networking and telecommunications and played a major role in a number of technology startups in the fields of Machine Learning, Virtualization and Embedded Systems.
Mr. Nassar is a member in over a dozen professional organizations, most recent a Senior Member at Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a PMP and ACP certified member of Project Management Institute among other technical associations and organizations. He holds professional certifications in project management, wireless engineering, agile business transformation, leadership development, nonprofit management and systems engineering.
